1976 - Akan Ainu Culture Preservation Society (Akan Ainu Minzoku Bunka Hozonkai) performs modern Ainu epics at UNESCO in Paris.

The group was led by Ainu elder Yamamoto Tasuke and included young people from the Akan region of Hokkaido. They performed a modern version of a traditional Ainu epic at a UNESCO event in Paris.
